ABOUT DISTRICT
Ramanagara district was carved out of the erstwhile Bengaluru Rural district on 23 August 2007, comprising It includes Ramanagara, Channapatna, Kanakapura, Magadi and Harohalli taluks. Recently, in year 2024, Harohalli was separated from Kanakapura taluk and formed a new taluk. Ramanagara is a town and a city municipal council in the Indian state of Karnataka. It is also the headquarters of Ramanagara district.The town was known as Shamserabad at the ruling time of Tippu Sultan. It was then called Closepet, after Sir Barry Close (1756–1813) in pre-Independence times. It was renamed Ramanagara by the former chief minister of Karnataka state Mr. Kengal Hanumanthayya, Mr. Kempe Gowda is a architect, builder and a guide from Magadi taluk of Ramanagara district.
