         Ramanagara is a town and a city municipal council in the Indian state of Karnataka. It is also the headquarters of Ramanagara district. The town was known as shamserabad at the ruling time of Tippu sultan. It was then called closepet, after sir Barry close(1756-1813)in pre- independence times. This name is retained in geology. Ramanagara is approximately 50 km southwest of Bengaluru. It has an average elevationof 747 metres(2450 feet) district has 4 taluks Ramanagara, kanakapura, channapatana and magadi. Ramanagara is famous for its sericulture, and nick named silk town & silk city. The silk produced in this region forms the input for the famous mysore silk. Ramanagara is the largest market or silk cocoos in Asia.

 

Ramadevara betta

Ramadevara Betta in Ramanagara about 50 kms from Bangalore, 3 kms from Ramanagra is a good spot for quick one day trip. We have to park the vehicle at the base of the hill and climb around 200 to 300 steps to reach the top of the hill. On the way the way there are few small temples and one main temple. There is nice view from top of the hill. This place closes by 5.30PM, So if you going in the evening plan to reach here by 4 and spend some time chit chatting at the top of the hill in the backdrop of wonderful view. And this place also calls has Ramadurga, ramagiri, shivaramagiri, kappothagiri. This place is famous hindi film  “shooley”  has shooted here. Adventure sport like trekking is suitable in ramadevara betta. Always water near the temple pond, the very rare eagles are found and protected by the forest department. And this place which attract more number of tourists.

 

Chamunddeshwari temple

Chamunddeshwara temple is in ramanagara town, this temple reminds mysore chamundi temple. The picture carved near the temple navadurge is major attration. Ganapathi temple, shaniparamathma, subramanya is also attract the peoples, and carved the pictures on the wall is beautiful to see. Every year the chamundi  karaga has celebrated, at time more number of tourists will visit.

 

Government silk market ramanagara

Bangalore- mysore highway  arkavathi river near the bus stand government silk market has comes.  Ramanagara is famous for its sericulture. The silk produced in this region forms the input for the famous mysore silk. Ramanagara is the largest market or silk cocoos in Asia. Nearly 5 acres of market which attracts other district and other states like tamilnadu, andra, maharastra what they are produced silk come and sell here. The tourists will visit domestic as well foreigners, facilities like drinking water, toilet and rest rooms available here.

 

Kutagal thimmappa betta

Kutagal thimmappa temple is 5 km from ramanagara, it is very beautiful pond near old  kutagal thimmappa temple. monolithic rocky is very beautiful to attract the tourists. Nearly 700-800 history of this temple. Good road to go for hill, basic facilities are available here.

 

Jalasiddeshwara betta

Jalasiddeshwara betta is 5 km from ramanagra, in jalasiddeshwara betta linga is beautiful to attraction. This lingas always full of water, every Monday special poojas and trekking is suitable place. Every year after 15 days the ugadi jalasiddeshwara usthava has celebrated. And here so many kind of birds are live, its beautiful to take the picture of birds.

 

Piron shavali darga

Piron shavali darga is in  ramanagara near arkavathi river, this darga also calls hajarath piron shavali kadri majudh rahamath ul ali. This darga all kind of people will visit sovle many probelemms. 140 years of history on this darga, painting is major attract the tourists.

 

Manchanabele dam

This is about 18 km from ramanagara and also come from the side of magadi. .This dam is build for the irrigation purpose, Now it also provide water to the magadi town, this dam is build across the river Arkavathi, the land which covered for irrigation under this project called “Thore saalu” because all the villages comes on the two sides of river arkavathi, in kannada “thore” means river and “saalu” means line. This place is good for your week end refreshment. Please avoid swimming in the back water, just enjoy the nature. Kayaking is conducted here.

 

Handi guddi betta

Bangalore- mysore entrance of ramanagara we an see the handi guddi betta, nearly 1050 feet of height from base of hill. The handi guddi betta name comes from the top of  the hill pigs are fighting each other they come below  of the hill the name has come  handi guddi betta. And here so many animals are there deer, cheetha, pigs, snakes and other animals are there. We can claimb the hill near the village of gangaraja. Beside the hill one of ramedevara hill  also famous for trekking and watching of birds these are major attract the tourists.

 

Janapada loka

          Bangalore – mysore highway 4 km from Ramanagara. Janapada loka or Folk world or folk culture, folk museum that has an exclusive display of the village folk arts of Karnataka. It is under the aegis of the Karnataka janapadaa parishat. Loka mahal, a wing in the museum has a dislay of 5,000 folk artifacts. It is situated in Ramanagara district , on the  south of Bangalore. H. L. Nage Gowda, an Indian civil servent and folklorist thought of creating a museum to exhibit the varied folk  art and  cutlture of Karnataka. According Karnataka janapada parishat was first established on 21 march 1979. Folk arts museum, Loka mahal, chitra kuteera, Doddamane, Shilamala, Arghyamala etc. The museum has a collection of 5,000 folk artefacts. The display includes an array of agriculture hunting and fishing implements, weapons, ingenious household adgetsmasks, dolls and shadow puppets this place is most attract of tourists. Restoraurant, drinking water, accomadation,and  other facilities are available .

 

Kunagal betta

Kunagal betta is 2 km from ramanagara kanakapura road,  the hill is so much happy to see the nature. On top of the hill we see the statue of anjaneya  and nandi statue also attract the tourists. There is two temple near the village ranganatha swamy temple every year 4 days rathosthava has celebrate.

 

Revanna siddeshwara

Ramanagara to kanakapura road 15 km from ramanagara.The holy place revanna siddeshwara temple. This temple is different things will shows, Monolithic rocky,  adventure and devotes. The  steps are there to climb  hill. The beautiful park near the temple revanna sideshwara sister rennu kambe temple. daily dasoha, govt guest houses, choutries, kalyana mantappa and hundred years of old matas we can see. The scared cave hill temple is  located on a massive  monolithic stone hill surrounded by hilly region in the midst of nature. Achalu betta

Ramanagara to kanakpura road 4 km from ramanagara. In the time of kempe gowda period the horses, and solders are stay here. On top of the hill the picture of anjaneya and pond available. Bommalingeshwara  and lakshmi temples, and also fort of evidence. On base of the hill achalamma temple, once in a year usthava is celebrated.

 

Sri lakshmi narayanaswamy betta

            Sri lakshmi narayanaswamy betta 16 km from ramanagara magadi road, near jalamanagala. In base of the hill the beautiful lake will attract the tourists. To climb the hill kaccha road facilities is available, in top of the hill the evidance kempe gowda fort and Sri lakshmi narayanaswamy on the hill. it is beautiful place  for nature and attract the tourists.

Apprameya temple

Bangalore- mysore highway 15 km from ramanagara,  1500 history old doddamalur apprameya temple. Krishna is in the form of a child who is in crawling position, its the most beautiful idol which i have ever seen. The lord is decorated with a decorated uda dhaara and his one hand is holding butter and the other hand he is supporting himself while crawling. Kengal  anjaneya temple

Bangalore- mysore highway 10 km from ramanagara, this temple was built during the period of karanataka’s 2nd chief minister, sri kengal Hanumanthaiah who is also the chief architect behind of vidhana soudha, the legislature building in Bangalore. Gavi ranganatha betta

Gavi ranganatha betta is 35 k from ramanagara, on the way channapatana- sathanur near singaraji pura . Near 1100 heigh of hill, the temple of bairaveshwara temple like cave and gavi ranganatha temple this temple is same like linga stracture. The road facility is good to travel.

 

Yoganarasimha swamy temple

This place 25 km from ramanagara near bevuru mandya village, this temple which attract nature and tourists.  The temple is like  meditation of ugra narasimha, behind the temple beautiful lake. This pace is attract more number tourists, accomadation and road facilities are available.

 

Gudde basaveshwara temple

Kambada narasimha temple

Kambada narasimha temple is beautiful temple near kuranaere village channapatana taluk, 35 km from ramanagara. This temple also the attract the tourists, there is road to go and drinking water facilities are available.

 

Kabbal betta

Sri kabbalamma Temple is situated in a village called kabbalu in kanakapura district, 35 km from ramanagara. The temple cab be reached from Bangalore via kanakapuara or Ramanagara / Channapatana  it is around 70-75 km away from Bangalore. Road to this temple passes through many villages and on the way we can see many 1300 mt of height rocky hills which is a trekking destination.

Near the kabbalamma temple there is a smalla shrine dedicated to Basaveshwara ( Bull – the vehicle of lord shiva). The miraculous Bull is  carrying a bundle of currency notes on its horns. This money is offered to Basava as the devotees whishes got fulfilled. This tmple is planning to build a new temple and also, the plan for the same is displayed in the temple premises. Shivagiri kshetra

Shivagiri kshetra is very old history of shiva temple, this temple 40 km from ramanagara near kanakapura taluk shivagiri. This kshetra managing good by adhichunchanagiri matas, all kind facilities are available for tourists.

Sangama

Sangama is a small village in kanakapura taluk  in Ramanagara district 60 km from ramanagara. It comes under mahalli panchayat. It is located  59 km from Bangalore. Sangama is surrounded by ramanagara taluk towards north, Thally taluk toward east, channapatana taluk toward west, maddur taluk toward west. Kanakapura taluk is the Nearest town to sangama. Road connectivityis there from kanakapura to sangama. Near the sangama the two river merges  arkavathi and kaveri river will  join here. Mekedatu

Mekedatu is 4 km from sangama, mekedatu means goat’s leap. The name comes from an incident which is believed to have been witnessed by bersmen in thta area  a long time ago. It is said that a goat being chased by a tiger made a  desperate attempt to save its life by leaping from one side from George and managed to cross over the raging river below, whereas the tiger did not attempt to replicate this feat, and abandoned the chase. It is believed that only divine goats could have marked their ‘footprints’ in such rocks. This destination attract more number of tourists, and also dander too.

 

Chunchi falls

Chunchi falls is 50 km from ramanagara, and 20 km from kanakapura. Arkavathi river creates this falls, when the rainy season this falls very beautiful to see. Daily more number of tourists will visit this destination. And huge forest is so beautiful to watch.

 

Bilikal ranganatha betta

This place is 15 km from kanakapura, two ways to reach this destination.This hill is connection of western ghats and  beautiful to see. This area comes in the centre of Karnataka and tamilnadu, and also place of elephants.

 

Chathurbuja ramadevara betta

Chathurbuja ramadevara betta 23 km from kanakapura near hill is in hosadurga village.Around the hill  there there was a fort, history told that fort is built by channapatana palegaras. In top of the hill there was always water in pond. The natural beauty and trekking is attract the tourists.

 

Mythreya pyramid valley

Mythreya pyramid valley 12 km from kanakapura, nearly 40 acres of land of pyramid valley. 104 feet of square pyramid, five thousand of people will seat and meditation here, this place which attract more number of tourists. The basic facilities are available in this destination.

 Magadi fort

Magadi fort 35 k from ramanagara near magadi town. In the  kempegowda period fort was constructed. Present the fort is reconstruction work is going on, inside of the fort the old temple of shiva and parvathi. Inscription evidence  and guns also we can see in the fort. This fort  under protected by state archelogogy department and this is one of the heritage site.

 

Kempapura

Kempapura is 15 km from magadi and 50 km from ramanagara. In the most precious historical find for bengaluru,its founder Hiriya kempe gowda tomb is claimed to have been discoverded in kempapura village near magadi,62 km from bengaluru, which he found in 1537.The historians confirmed that the tomb found in kempapura is that of Hiriya kempegowda or kempegowda. However the tomb does not mention the date of his death.

The kannada inscription on the tomb says it that of Hiriya kempegowda who died at the spot while returning from kunigal. But a convincing confirmation still remains to be given to the find. Now more number of tourists visiting the hiriya kempegowda death palce.

 

Sawana durga

Sawana durga is 30 km from ramanagara, sawana durga being one of the the nine such forts around Bangalore, is situated at a distance 50 km west of Bangalore near magadi. This is also the biggest monolith in asia. The rising the height is more then 1226 mrt of height,  At the the foot hill there is a village by the same name and is protected garden of the herbs of medicinal. Magadi ranganatha temple

Magadi ranganatha temple 36 km from ramanagara,  the rangantha temple it is cholas period. Ranganatha temple is also built in an evevated placed called swarnadri parvata. The area in which this temple is situated is called “Tirumale”. There is vast prakara with a gateway having tall rajagopura. Kalya betta 40 km from ramanagara and  5 km from magadi near huliyuru darga road, kalya  hill is very important place and calls like kalavathi town. This is holy place of jainas, the followers of jaina come and himself death here. Kalleshwara temple and virashaiva matas also here.

 

Eathina gulaganji gudda

Eathina gulaganji gudda  this place 56 km from ramanagra, and also calls has Y. G gudda 19 km from magadi. This destination attract the nature, enjoy the beauty of environment, and also very good place to watch the birds.
